What Can You Do With Old Pillows?

Don’t throw away the pillows. There are better uses to be had for them other than objects for rubbish removal. Simply use your imagination and think where you can add more comfort.

Make Floor Cushions

If your child likes playing on the floor, at least make it soft for it. Use the pillows as play mats and give the kid a much more comfortable playing zone.

Make Rags

Open up your old pillow and remove the stuffing. Then cut up the remaining fabric into square pieces and use them as rags for cleaning projects!

Use the Stuffing as Packing Material

And, ultimately, you can simply delay the waste disposal by using the stuffing as stuffing for the boxes when you move house. It’s a sure-fire way to keep fragile items safe.

Turn Them into Pet Beds

Your pet can use softer bedding as well. Take the pillow to its crib or basket or plastic bed, or whatever you are using and stuff it with the old pillow. And do make sure to affix it well – some pets like dragging the pillows out and spreading their stuffing around the house.

Double Up

To extend the lifespan of a pillow that’s gone all thin and lumpy, just use two of them! Grab your two thinnest pillows and put them in a pillowcase together. You’ll have a suitably firm pillow that should work nicely for at least a few more months!

When Working Around the House

Use an old pillow as a knee pad when working in the yard, garden, or around your home. Just place the old pillow on the hard ground or surface before kneeling down to do your work.
Donate Old Pillows to the Homeless
While your old pillows might not seem useful to you, others who are less fortunate might love to have them. If your old pillows are still in decent shape, donate them to a homeless shelter.

Use as a Leg Pillow

If the pillow is no longer fit for the head, then push it down a bit and place it underneath the legs. Make your feet more comfortable when sitting on the sofa or in bed.

Protect A Package

Use the stuffing from an old pillow as packing material the next time you ship a fragile package. You could also stuff the whole pillow in the box if you want!

Turn Old Pillows Into Floor Cushions
Another great idea for your old pillows is to turn them into floor cushions. Simply take two old pillows and place them into a pre-made cushion cover

Moving Helper

Use old pillows to help protect you’re stuff while you’re moving. Place them between bikes to keep them from getting scratched up. If you have to lean other items against a piece of furniture in the truck, place a pillow there to keep it from scuffing or rubbing while in transit

.

Insulate Everything

Old pillows make great insulation in a pinch! You can use the stuffing (or the whole pillow) to add insulation to:

  • Your loft or attic
  • Around your bathtub
  • Your hot water tank
  • Your pipes
