Study Says Having More Kids = Slower Aging

Good news for all you mamas with a house full of babies: you are going to age slower, according to science.

Personally, I’ve felt aging hit me like a ton of bricks since I had my first baby at age 26. My next one was born a couple of years later and by 30, I was sprouting grey hairs at rapid speed.

Was that from children or just natural aging? Who knows.

But this new study says from Simon Fraser University claims that having children slows down the mothers aging process.

Here’s the thing, though: they don’t mean it will stop your wrinkles and grey hairs in their tracks. It’s a bit more scientific than that…

Study Says Having More Kids = Slower Aging

See, your DNA strands have protective tips at the ends called “telomeres.” Their study showed that women who gave birth to more children had longer telomeres and those long telomeres are integral to cell replication and associated with longevity. Healthier DNA = slower aging.

There is also research that says moms that are the least stressed have four or more kids. So, perhaps we should all be making babies Duggar style?

I know I can say for sure, that is not for me no matter how much research tells me it might be. (Remember when I told you how much I love my kids but that having babies sucked?)

How many kids do you have? If you have a big family, do you feel less stressed or more stressed?
