Rules to Make Your Hair Look Better Than a Day at the Salon

Hair that is well-groomed and healthy is the result of not only good genes but also of daily care. Even if you don’t see a difference the next day after starting the procedures, there’s a good chance you’ll notice a difference after several months of active hair care procedures. Haircare, on the other hand, should be done with caution, and there are some rules to follow.

Hair oil

It may appear to be something that will undoubtedly make your mane look royal, but even the best hair oil must be applied correctly. Don’t apply it to your roots because it will make your hair heavier; instead, apply it to the tips. Applying oil to the hair before washing, tying it back, and not wetting it for a while is one way to use it — hot steam combined with oil will make your hair healthier and softer.

Conditioner

Many of us apply hair conditioner to all of our hair, rubbing it into the scalp thoroughly. This is also an error. It, like oil, is intended for the hair tips rather than the scalp. It’s best to use it at the very end of your hair. It’s critical to thoroughly wash your hair afterward to ensure that it’s completely clean and hasn’t retained any residual soapiness.

Hair bands

Choosing the right hairband is a good investment, especially if you have long hair, because you’ll be using it every day. It is preferable to use fabric rather than plastic. Silk accessories are particularly appealing. They are more expensive, but it is well worth it because silk elastic bands are extremely gentle on the hair, preventing kinks and minimizing kinks that always occur when we remove the elastic band after a day of wear.

SPF products

It’s worth including additional moisturizing in your hair care routine during the summer months (for example, applying a leave-in conditioner overnight). Also, pay attention to hair products that have an SPF component in their composition — it will help your hair stay protected from the sun’s rays. But if you are going to be in a place where there is no shade it’s better that you wear a hat.

Use a wide-tooth comb

Brush damp hair with a wide-tooth comb. Immediately after washing, hair is more prone to damage than usual, so it is important to take care of it at that moment. The wide-tooth comb gently detangles wet hair and evenly distributes any leave-in product.

Towel

Another important nuance in taking care of wet hair is using the right towel. Get yourself a microfiber towel. An ordinary towel made from rough fabric can tangle your hair a lot, especially if it’s long. Make sure to dry your hair gently with a towel — don’t rub but blot from roots to tips, having preliminarily removed the excess water with your hands. You can blot your hair once or twice.

Blow-dryer

One of the most important rules when using a blow-dryer is to first air (and towel) dry your hair naturally. The drier your hair is before use, the better. This will keep your hair ends from getting dry. Also, don’t neglect the nozzles for the blow-dryer, especially the one with a flat edge — using it will make the whole process less traumatic for the hair.

Thermal protection

This is another nuance of taking care of hair that many people miss, thinking it’s not important. Using sprays with thermal protection while drying your hair and styling it can prevent over-drying and split ends, as well as protect you from lackluster and brittle hair. The main thing to remember is to choose the best product. If you are going to heat your hair straightener to 480°F, the product you use should be made to withstand this kind of heat and still protect the hair.

Combing

The easiest way to comb hair is to start from the tips, not from the roots, and gradually move up. If you have thick hair or curls that get tangled frequently, don’t neglect to use a hair spray for combing — it can help untangle the knots. When untangling hair try to not pull the hair roots. And of course, the comb should be as clean as possible.
