My Son is 28, Lives at Home, and Has Never Had a Relationship—And I’m Fine With It!

In an unusual but heartfelt admission, a mother has shared her perspective on her 28-year-old son, who still lives at home, does not work or study, and has never had a romantic relationship.

“I provide for him, and honestly, I’m okay with it,” she says.

“He’s never had a girlfriend—and that’s exactly how I want it. We don’t need any daughters-in-law around here. He’s got his mom, the most important woman in his life.”

Her view might seem unconventional, but she believes that their close, supportive bond is all he needs at this stage of life.

The mother emphasizes that she has always been there for her son, and they share a deep connection that, in her eyes, doesn’t require anyone else.

“Why complicate things with a relationship when we’re happy just the way we are?” she adds.

While her views may raise eyebrows, it’s clear that for this mother and son, their unique dynamic works for them. It’s a reminder that family structures come in many forms—and for some, the most important relationship is the one shared between mother and child.
