Maintaining a clean and fresh bathroom is essential for the well-being of your household, but conventional cleaning products often contain harsh chemicals that can be harmful to both your health and the environment.

The good news is with these effective and easy DIY toilet bowl cleaners, you never again need to dread the task. This is because, the natural cleaning ʙᴏᴍʙs are homemade, made with natural ingredients, and are very, very easy to make.

These handy little bombs are easy to make, environmentally friendly, and leave your toilets sparkling clean without the use of harmful chemicals. Join us as we explore the art of crafting your own non-toxic toilet cleaning bombs for a healthier home and planet.

This is not surprising, considering one fragrance mixture inside a cleaner can contain up to 3,000 different chemicals. Not only is the concoction nauseating and allergenic, it is hazardous when dumped into the environment. By avoiding conventional cleaners, your health, home, and the Earth all benefit. That’s something to feel good about, right?

An Effective and Easy DIY Toilet Bowl Cleaner:

Ingredients:

– 1/2 Cup of Baking Soda
– 1/2 Cup of Citric Acid
– 1/2 Cup of Cornstarch
– Water in a Spray Bottle
– 1 Gallon Sized Zip-top Bag
– 25 Drops Each of 3 Essential Oils*

*It’s best to include either the lemon or orange version as one of the three oils due to their cleaning properties, alongside two others with your favorite scents.

Materials:

– A mold of your choice (I love the idea on the recipe using muffin tins with liners)
– A Giant Ziploc bag

How to make it Steps By Steps:

– Step 1:

  • Throw all of the ingredients (except for the essential oils and the bottle of water) into the bag and shake them well.
  • Open the bag up and add two-three spritz of water.
  • Close the bag and knead.

– Step 2:

  • Repeat steps 2-3 about 5-7 times. If the bag gets puffy, let some air out (nothing to worry about) and continue.
  • When the mixture becomes like dough, take some into a fist and see if it sticks together. If it does, we are good to go (to make it like this, we don’t want to add too much water).

– Step 3: Drop in those essential oils drops and knead again.

– Step 4:

  • Press the mixture into your molds (we want them in tightly).
  • Let them dry for two days, then remove them out of the molds.
  • Place them somewhere high, and let them dry for another two days
  • Store them in a sealed container until you need to use them.

Using Your Toilet Cleaning Bombs:

  • To clean your toilet, simply drop one cleaning bomb into the bowl and allow it to fizz and dissolve.
  • As the bomb dissolves, it will release its cleaning agents, including baking soda and citric acid, which help to break down stains and eliminate odors.
  • Use a toilet brush to scrub the bowl, ensuring all surfaces are thoroughly cleaned, then flush to rinse away any residue.

Storing Your Bombs:

  • Store your DIY toilet cleaning bombs in an airtight container or jar to keep them fresh and prevent them from absorbing moisture.
  • Keep them in a cool, dry place, such as under the bathroom sink or in a linen closet, for easy access whenever you need to freshen up your toilet.

As we conclude our journey into the world of DIY non-toxic toilet cleaning bombs, we hope you feel empowered and inspired to create your own natural cleaning products for a healthier home and planet.

By making small changes to your cleaning routine, you can reduce your exposure to harmful chemicals, protect the environment, and enjoy the satisfaction of knowing you’re creating a safer and cleaner living environment for yourself and your loved ones.
