Dear Mama, This Is What They’ll Remember

Dear Mamas,

Your little ones won’t remember if they had a Pinterest-styled bedroom.

But they’ll remember the time you spent on the floor with toys and books.

They won’t remember if your car had leather seats or cloth; if it was clean or had Cheetos smashed in the floorboards.

But they’ll remember the songs you sang together on the way to school.

Dear Mama

They won’t remember if your teeth were straight or crooked or pearly white.

But they’ll remember how often you smiled at them.

They won’t remember if your nails ever had a manicure or if they were chewed down from your worry.

But they’ll remember the feeling of their tiny hand in yours.

They won’t remember their report card grades.

But they will remember how you high-fived them; how you showed your pride.

They won’t remember a single movie you watched.

But they’ll remember warm popcorn and moms comfy lap.

They won’t remember exactly what they got for Christmas.

But they’ll remember the early morning light, the excitement and the joy of family.

Dear Mama, this is what they’ll remember.

Your baby won’t remember how expensive their stroller was; if it had shock-absorbing tires or rear-wheel suspension.

Your toddler won’t remember the time at the park you looked away and they fell and you cried long after they had stopped.

But they will always remember how you hugged them.

They will always remember that you rubbed their back when they were sad.

How you calmed them when they were angry.

They will always remember that you made them feel safe.

That they are special.

They will always remember that no one loves them like mommy does.

So let the rest go, dear mama, because you’re doing everything just right. And that’s what they will remember. ♥
