The touching moment occurred while Adele performed “When we were young” Spotting Dion in the audience, she was visibly moved and rushed to embrace her, prompting a roar of approval from the crowd. By the end of their heartfelt hug, both singers were wiping away tears, overwhelmed by the emotion of the moment.
On Monday, Adele shared a photo of their encounter on Instagram, revealing that Dion’s presence was a delightful surprise. She noted that the iconic venue was originally built for Dion’s own Las Vegas residency, “A New Day,” over two decades ago.
“It was the only venue I wanted to play in Vegas because it was built for her,” Adele expressed. “I touch a picture of her by the stage every night before I perform.”
Addressing Dion directly, Adele wrote, “I love you so very much. Words can’t capture what you mean to me or how special it was to see you back in your palace with your lovely family.”
During the concert, Adele was so moved that she asked the audience to help her finish the song. After their emotional exchange, Dion stood to take a bow, prompting Adele to tell the cheering crowd that Dion is “one of my favorite people of all time.”
Adele is nearing the end of her Las Vegas residency, “Weekends with Adele,” which began in January 2022 and wraps up on November 23.
